United States History Honors A/B

This rigorous, accelerated, in-depth survey course will examine the political, social, and economic history of the United States during the twentieth century. Students will engage in historical inquiry and critical thinking by using a variety of instructional methods, including historical essays, simulations, seminar discussions, and project-based learning. While reading materials will include textbooks and other secondary sources, students should also expect to read extensively from primary sources and works of historical literature. Students will practice the craft of historical research, which includes strong thesis development and appropriate citation. This class is designed for the highly motivated, inquisitive social studies student with excellent reading and writing skills. A.P. U.S. History also meets the necessary Social Studies requirement and can be taken instead of Honors U.S. History 10.
