FHS-Mascot-Change

Dear Frederick High Community,

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we celebrate a strong start to the new academic year. As Dr. Young shared in June, Colorado has passed recent legislation that would prohibit the use of American Indian Mascots, including the continued use of our Warrior mascot beginning June 2022.

As we move forward, student, teacher, staff, parent, and community input is an important part of the mascot identification process. Accordingly, earlier this summer, I convened an advisory committee of students, parents, elected officials, teachers, and community members to guide the mascot identification work over the coming months and help shape the future of Frederick High School. Toward this end, the advisory committee has opened a survey to solicit community feedback and suggestions for our school’s next mascot. Please take a minute to complete the survey and submit up to three mascot suggestions. The committee will reconvene in September to review all suggestions and narrow down final recommendations that will be on a future Board of Education meeting agenda for approval.

Again, I want to thank you for being such an important part of our Frederick High School community. If you have any questions about this change or the survey, please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Russell Fox, Principal

Atentamente,

Russell Fox, Director

Preparatoria Frederick
